Dolphins in Waianae

What we did

My coworkers and I had a special team building activity: visit Waianae on Oahu to see some Dolphins with a tour provided by Dolphins and You. See their trip advisor here.

How was it

The experience was spectacular: The activity comprises of you and your group going on a boat, sailing out to some secluded area, seeing dolphins and fish, and going down the water slide from the top of the boat. Neato. The video speaks for itself, it was a blast. Definitely something to try if you’re visiting Hawaii.

Video side commentary

Footage was filmed on a DJI Osmo Pocket using an Official DJI Osmo Pocket Waterproof Case. While the footage from the Pocket as a 4K Water camera is sharp and clean, using the case with the water mode negates the gimbal stabilization. As a result I ended up picking up a DJI Osmo Action and use Rocksteady mode for water related footage.

Picture Commentary

Picture was shot using a Moment 18mm Wide Angle Lens on a Pixel 3 XL. Pictures look good on the surface with a Pixel 3 XL, however once you zoom in and see the fine details, it just doesn’t hold a candle against the top Point and Shoot cameras, let alone a Mirrorless or DSLR.
